The World Gobbler is the main antagonist of the 2008 French-German-Luxembourgish computer-animated film Dragon Hunters, which is based on the series of the same name. It is a gargantuan-sized skeletal dragon that once destroyed Lian-Chu's village when he was just a kid, as shown in the beginning of the movie.

Its vocal sound effects were provided by Jean-Marc Lentretien.

What Makes Him A Shonen Villain?[]

  • Villainous/Anti-Villainous: Wants to destroy all the world.
  • Powerful/Skillful: Is the most powerful dragon (and thus the biggest threat) in-universe.
  • Power-Hungry: Wants to be the only living creature in the world.
  • Pursues a Big-End Goal: His goal is to be the only living creature in the world.
  • Arrogant: Considers himself entitled to be the only living creature in the world.
  • Cold-Hearted/Ruthless: Considered a monster in all senses of this world even in a franchise full of literal monsters.
  • Is a Game Changer: Unlike other dragons he isn't comedic and there are indications that he has a complete moral agency.
  • Psychopathic: And how else a character with his motivation can be called?
  • Sadistic: Enjoys toying with Lian-Chu during their battle.
  • Has Incompetent Minions: While there is no indication that the other dragons serve him, he is much more competent than them.
  • Bloodthirsty: Considering his goal and the level of his danger, the conclusion that he's bloodthirsty appears for itself.
  • Is a Dark Lord: Or, at least, a dragon equivalent of it.
  • Calls Out Attacks: During their fight, Lian-Chu brakes his braid over the World Gobbler's body. Later, the World Gobbler always throws away Lian-Chu's knitting needles.
