New week, new candidates! Yay! For my next proposal, I'm going to bring up a villain from a cool game that my good friend LordJarman (who is planning to make his first SV proposal soon) recommended to me a while ago. I've got to say, I love the game and everything about it: The characters, aesthetic, plotline and especially the two villains. Yomi was a fucking beast who I wanted to boo off the screen, but this guy...Makoto...everything about him screams Shonen Villain. As such, I'll be proposing the guy who is smiling himself: Makoto Kagutsuchi!

What's the Work?[]
Master Detective Archives: Rain Code is a 2023 adventure video game. It's about an amnesiac trainee detective named Yuma Kokohead who investigates a crime-filled city called Kanai Ward controlled by a massive company called the Amatersu Corporation, which is led by CEO Kagutsuchi and Director Hellsmile. He must work with his friends to solve mysteries and puzzles to save the city.
Who is He?[]
Makoto Kagutsuchi is the main antagonist of the game. He is the CEO of Amatersu Corporation and the boss of the despicable Hate Sink known as Yomi Hellsmile. He was created as part of a plan to form an immortal army, and is the archenemy of Yuma.
What Makes Him a Shonen Villain?[]
Basic Traits[]
- Villainous/Anti-Villainous: He exploited the amnesiac states of the defective homunculi to become the CEO of Amatersu Corporation, had countless people kidnapped and killed before turning them into meat buns for the population of Kanai Ward to feast on and partook in Yomi's assassination of Dr. Huesca.
- Powerful/Skillful: He is very powerful due to being a CEO and he's good at acrobatics and wielding a sword.
- Power-Hungry: He will stop at nothing to lord over the defective homunculi, no matter how low he has to stoop.
- Pursues a Big-End Goal: His main goal is to put together a vast amount of immortal homunculi to make an army.
- Arrogant: He boasts about how he is more intelligent than Yomi to his face.
- Intelligent: In contrast to Yomi, who has power, charisma and numbers, Makoto can use his head to solve problems and proves to be a genius more often than not.
- Cold-Hearted/Ruthless: Despite his sympathetic and well-intentioned motives, he is still a ruthless, conniving baddie.
- Laughably Evil: He has a few funny moments before the reveal.
- Psychopathic: He doesn't care who he kills as long as Kanai Ward's population has processed meat buns to eat, even if they're made from actual people.
- Narcissistic: He is loyal to nobody but himself.
Bonus Traits[]
- Tragic Past: He saw his kind being reduced to a failed experiment and desperately wanted to save them, relying solely on himself and stressfully taking on way more responsibilities than intended. Then, he collaborated with Yomi Hellsmile and thought he was a good man only to realise that he is not who he thought he was, leading to him developing a burning hatred of the man. Plus, he was forced to exist without any free will. All of this fuels his villainy to begin with, and to cap it all off, he is merely an extension of the Unified Government's influence.
- Serves as a Foil to the Hero/Protagonist: He is an evil counterpart of Yuma due to being the cause of the corruption in Kanai Ward which ruins the lives of many people, whereas Yuma wants to solve puzzles to stop crime running rampant in the city.
- Bloodthirsty: He relishes in violence to the point where he amassed a ridiculously high kill count as part of his plans.
- Is a Secondary-Color Nemesis: He wears a purple suit.
- Has Black Air Force Energy: As Yuma points out, while Makoto wears a cool mask, it does nothing to hide the crimes he committed.
