Now, the moment y'all have been waiting for: Candidate number 3 of my marathon!!!
With my recent SV proposal for Jinx from League of Legends being a success, I have a few more LoL candidates on the horizon. A week ago, I made a poll asking "which LoL character should I propose next?" and the choices were Aatrox and Singed (not the Arcane counterpart of the character). Since the former got more votes, I figured I'd give him a shot, and what can I say? He's a good candidate for the trope. Everyone, meet the barbaric and dark warlord himself: Aatrox! Cool name, by the way.
But yeah, let the discussion begin!
What's the Work?[]
League of Legends is a 2009 multiplayer online battle arena video game created by Riot Games. It basically has lore that explains the story of the game's synopsis and has a mode that revolves around players fighting each other by selecting playable characters to battle it out, and the game takes place in the world of Runeterra.
Who is He?[]
Aatrox is one of the main antagonists of the game. He is a sentient Darkin blade who became a threat after his dark magic corrupted him and serves as the archenemy of Pantheon and Tryndamere.
What Makes Him a Shonen Villain?[]
Basic Traits[]
- Villainous/Anti-Villainous: He assimilated several hosts and put them in a fate worse than death to recreate his body, slaughtered nearly all of Tryndamere's people, tried to destroy Runeterra and intends to start a war that can wipe out all of existence.
- Powerful/Skillful: He is a skilled swordsman, is capable of possessing people and can use hemomancy.
- Power-Hungry: He seeks to have enough power to bring about a deadly apocalypse.
- Pursues a Big-End Goal: His main goal is to cause a war that will threaten reality itself.
- Intelligent: He possessed a bunch of people to make sure his body would remain and his threat level surpasses that of the Void, making him a competent foe for the heroes to stop.
- Cold-Hearted/Ruthless: He is nothing but cold and lacks any compassion for Tryndamere.
- Short-Tempered: He has a short fuse that blows up easily.
- Narcissistic: He is very egotistical, seeing himself as superior to Tryndamere.
Bonus Traits[]
- Tragic Past: He was trapped inside his own weapon for thousands of years before being imprisoned in an eternal void and driven insane by his magic, and when he was freed, he attempted to commit suicide but couldn't due to his immortality, leading to him wanting to destroy the world to end his suffering.
- Serves as a Foil to the Hero/Protagonist: Compared to Tryndamere, who has compassion and empathy for others, Aatrox is a lot more vile and unsympathetic.
- Bloodthirsty: He wants to kill billions, if not trillions of people just to put an end to his misery.
- Has Black Air Force Energy: He blatantly brushes off the rules and does whatever he wants for fun.
Final Verdict[]
