Who's this man? He's the damn fool that shot Hamilton.
“ | Talk less. Smile more. Don't let them know what you're against or what you're for. | „ |
~ That advice surely backfired, didn't it? I mean, it's almost like you knew what was going to happen to poor Alexander Hamilton judging by the way you say it. |
Hey, guys! Sorry I'm late to make a proposal this week! It's just the weekend was quite frankly very busy for me, along with other things I had to do for the past 7 days. So here's what I'm going to do; I'll try to cram in the 3 weekly proposals today while I still have time. Buckle up, y'all, because tonight is going to be a Shonen Villain proposal marathon! Anyways, candidate number 1 is a guy I proposed as IH a while back but he got rejected due to lacking enough heinous deeds to count, but I figured he had a better chance at being on this wiki instead. Everyone, meet the opportunistic and charming senator himself: Aaron Burr!
Anyways, let the discussion begin!
What's the Work?[]
Hamilton: An American Musical is a 2015 Broadway rap musical that covers the life of American military officer and salesman Alexander Hamilton. He basically meets several people, wins an election, and then has a duel with his former friend Aaron Burr who then shoots him dead and ruins his legacy for years onward. It's also one of the most famous and popular musicals of all time and gained a Disney+ movie in 2020.
Who is He?[]
Aaron Burr is the main antagonist of the musical. Presenting himself as a seemingly passionate politician, his envy of Hamilton after the latter wins an election with the aid of Thomas Jefferson causes him to betray Hamilton and commit acts like blackmail and even murder.
What Makes Him a Shonen Villain?[]
Basic Traits[]
- Villainous/Anti-Villainous: He destroyed Hamilton's reputation and later killed him in a gunfight.
- Powerful/Skillful: He is shown to be a professional gunman who was able to take on and beat Hamilton in their climatic duel.
- Power-Hungry: He seeks to surpass Hamilton in every way, being his rival.
- Pursues a Big-End Goal: His main goal is to win the election and become the president of the United States.
- Arrogant: He views himself as superior to Hamilton.
- Intelligent: He tricked/blackmailed Hamilton into signing a pamphlet that damaged his public image and came close in succeeding in his big-end goal, only failing due to Thomas Jefferson helping Hamilton win the election.
- Short-Tempered: Although he can keep his cool, he has a villainous breakdown when he loses the election.
- Laughably Evil: He's played for laughs here and there throughout the musical such as telling Hamilton to talk less and smile more while emphasising some of the words, speaking in a singsong voice on many occasions and his villainous breakdown is comedic as well since after he finds out that he lost the presidential election to Hamilton, Burr sings to vent his anger and insults Hamilton in an exaggerated manner without snapping or raising his voice. It could also be argued that he is a parody of the real-life historical figure of the same name.
- Narcissistic: He is wrapped up in himself in general.
Bonus Traits[]
- Tragic Past: His parents died with no instructions for him and only a legacy to protect.
- Serves as a Foil to the Hero/Protagonist: He is the evil version of Hamilton, who fights for what's right whereas Burr just wants to outdo his opposition in every way conceivable.
- Bloodthirsty: He murdered Hamilton in cold blood even when the latter tried to surrender by shooting his gun to the sky.
- Is a Secondary-Color Nemesis: His outfit is dark purple.
- Immature: Despite being a grown man, he insults Hamilton in over-the-top ways and his breakdown just cements how petty he is.
Final Verdict[]
If he can't be IH, he might as well be a Shonen Villain! Okay, in all seriousness, he's a yes for me, but it's up to y'all to decide. Thanks for reading and have a good day.
