Monty de la Cruz
Do you know what I got Alex? I got my friends, I got the team. I don't get to be all "boo-hoo I'm sad my friend died", I'm gonna put a bullet in my head so the whole world feels sorry for me. Jesus, you wave that gun around like I give a sh-t. I don't, man. If I sell out Bryce or lie, either way my life falls apart. I got no one else on my side. I can't run home, that team's my home. Going to playoffs, winning state, being an athlete? That's not about fun, for me it's about survival. It's all I got. It's everything.
~ Monty’s “villain” speech I guess.

This is my second proposal here. Since AC did Bryce Walker might as well do this piece of crap who’s somehow even worse. I guess this candidate can prove this isn’t a Badge of Honor site if he gets approved.

What’s the work?[]

13 Reasons Why is a Netflix show that’s an abomination to human-kind and should’ve cancelled after Season 1. It revolves in a high school setting in Liberty High School where the suicide of a girl named Hannah Baker orchestrates the plot and she calls out tape subjects who ruined her life, mainly Bryce Walker who raped her. Tiis is how the show starts but then it gets really stupid and gives rapists sympathy and crap

Who is Monty.[]

Monty is the secondary antagonist and Bryce Walker’s best friend/follower, another jock at Liberty High school. He is a bully to everyone especially Tyler and commits multiple crimes to hide Bryce’s crimes. We later learn he is actually a closeted homophobe and he gets framed for Bryce’s murder and killed in prison, leading to other jocks wanting to avenge his death.

Criteria he meets[]

Basic Traits[]

  • Villainous: Monty isn’t “just” an average high school bully. He’s a violent psychopath who manages to reach Near Pure Evil due to his depraved crimes.
  • Powerful/Skillful: Even if not powerful, he is still a strong jock and one of the best football players in Liberty High. i’d also like to mention after his death in Season 4, he influences a handful of jocks (who existed before? I guess) to try to avenge his death and causes the entire school to mourn him.
  • Power-Hungry: He uses the jocks to give himself a good reputation as a way so he can go into play-offfs and become famous, then will hurt anyone for trying to get in his way. Oh yeah and he does steroids.
  • Pursues a Big-End Goal: Protecting Bryce. Winning playoffs.
  • Arrogant: Insecure deep down but also super arrogant and an asshole even a normal conversation. His arrogance also leads him to believe he can get away with sloppy crimes.
  • Cold-Hearted/Ruthless: Pychopath to the core who tried to drive a kid to suicide, tried to murder Clay and raped Tyler with a mop over baseball being cancelled.
  • Short-Tempered: Constantly picks fights with other kids for small reasons and always loses his temper even in public, unlike Bryce who can at least maintain a civil attitude.
  • Is a Game Changer: The show is already dark but all of Monty’s disturbing crimes, especially his rape of Tyler are some of the most horrific elements of the show.
  • Psychopathic: Literally called a sociopath on his Villains Wiki Infobox. While he does technically care for Bryce and maybe his sister, he is still defined as someone who will mercilessly hurt anyone for small reasons or for fun and unlike Bryce, never shows a speck of remorse for his actions.

Bonus Traits[]

  • Sadistic: Enjoys beating people up, especially Tyler (who he even mocks about raping him and threatens to do it again. His ways of hurting people include shoving a wooden mop up Tyler’s ass after beating him to a bloody pulp. He also taunted Hannah’s parents about their dead daughter. Makes jokes out of pretty much all of his crimes like how Alex “missed a headshot.”
  • Freudian Excuse: Has a homophoic alcoholic dad who beats him with a hammer and forces him to be homeless sometimes. It’s an absolutely stupid excuse for his actions but the show still plays it for sympathy.
  • Serves as a Foil to the Hero/Protagonist: Not the actual main protagonist, but kind of this to Bryce’s other best friend and Clay’s adoptive brother, Justin, as a dark reflection who was also abused and is poor but has a moral compass unlike him and redeems himself.
  • Incompetent Minions: While nowhere near as dumb as Monty himself, maybe Luke Holliday and Diego could count for this (the latter who thought he could beat a school shooter with a baseball bat). And maybe Taylor and Kenneth who assisted him with raping Tyler if you want to say it’s dumb they assisted him for such a stupid crime.
  • Bloodthirsty: yep. See sadistic.
  • Has Comedic Moments: While taken completely seriously by the plot, Monty actually does have some comedic moments revolving around how stupid he is, like insisting he’s finishing a fight with Alex, getting told by Bryce his dad didn’t beat him hard enough cuz he’s still an idiot, taking his shirt off at the movie theater, saying Clay’s name should be ”sh*t”and getting called an idot by Justin, screaming “b*tch” during Jessica’s speech and saying he wants to use his cum for the drug test. In season 4, his ghost self has multiple comedic moments like talking with Clay about Tron, despite having never seen the movie.

Verdict[]

Sorry but I think he counts. Up to you though
