Who is he?[]
Solomon Lane is the main antagonist of Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation and one of the two main antagonists (alongside August Walker) of Mission: Impossible - Fallout. He is a former MI6 agent and a terrorist mastermind who is the leader of an anarchist group named The Syndicate.
What makes him a Shonen Villain?[]
Basic Traits[]
- Villainous/Anti-Villainous: Solomon Lane has committed countless heinous crimes, such as remorselessly killing an innocent woman working at a music disc shop while Ethan Hunt is forced to watch her die, assassinating the Austrian Chancellor, attempting to assassinate the British Prime Minister, setting a fire at a chemical plant that gassed an entire village of two thousand people, crashing a plane with 236 passengers just to kill one particular person, being willing to kill a third of the world's population out of spite, and trying to kill Ethan Hunt various times.
- Powerful/Skillful: He is a very capable man due to years of training as an MI6 operative, being a highly skilled combatant with peak human condition, and is also an extremely skilled tactician. He also has immense power as the leader of the terroristic Syndicate.
- Power-Hungry: He seeks to shape a new world order as he sees fit, an order based on chaos and terrorism, and bring the entire world under his control.
- Pursues a Big-End Goal: His ultimate goal is to create a new world order based on unstoppable sequences of accidents and terrorist attacks and turn the entire world into a massive terrorist superpower, and also starve a third of the world's population and frame Ethan Hunt for the crime.
- Arrogant: He is very prideful of and revels in spearheading a plot to destroy the current world order and replace it with a new one which is based chaos and terrorism and meets his expectations for what the world should be like; he is also pretty overconfident in his elaborate and often effective plans.
- Intelligent: He is one of the franchise's smartest and most dangerous villains. He is able to run an entire terrorist organization and nearly pull off multiple acts of terrorism to achieve his goal, and also is skilled in intelligence gathering, the use of technology and even nuclear physics.
- Cold-Hearted/Ruthless: He is a ruthless and totally unemotional killer who is willing to remorselessly kill innocent people to get what he wants.
- Psychopathic: He lacks any emotion and is an extremely cruel man, showing no remorse in committing his villainous actions, such as murdering innocents and planning to wipe out a third of the world's population out of spite.
- Narcissistic: He lacks empathy or mercy and prioritizes his own interests above everyone else, does not care about the terroristic acts done by the Syndicate and justifies himself that he has done nothing else as an MI6 agent; overall he solely cares about himself with his desires overriding the well-being of others.

- Sadistic: He is determined to not only enact his ultimate plan but to ensure that Ethan is there to see the people he cares about the most die, taking immense pleasure at the mere thought of Ethan's agony.
- Freudian Excuse: He used to be a talented MI6 Agent who betrayed the MI6 after seemingly getting more and more tired of being mistreated by them for years and wanted a change.
- Has Incompetent Minions: He shoots his own minions for petty reasons.
- Bloodthirsty: He has very little concern for human life, being not only willing to kill innocents to succeed in his plans but willing to kill a third of the world's population just to get revenge on Ethan Hunt.

- Is a Dark Lord: He convinced August Walker to aid him with wiping out a third of the world's population, though Walker wanted to do so in order to achieve peace unlike Lane who was doing it for revenge against Ethan Hunt.
