The Director is the main antagonist of Netflix's animated movie Nimona, based on the graphic novel of the same name.

She's the director of the institute, a school who trained young men so they'd become knights. She was also responsible of the death of Queen Valerin when she tried to make commoners become knights, and the archenemy of Nimona and Ballister Boldheart, being also the latter's former boss.

She was voiced by Frances Conroy.

What Makes Her A Shonen Villain?[]

  • Villainous: She murdered Queen Valerin and tried to fire a cannon that would destroy half the city just to kill Nimona.
  • Powerful/Skillful: She's very influent over the institute and the kingdom in general.
  • Pursues a Big-End Goal: She's obsessed with keeping the status quo of the kingdom by not letting commoners become knights and killing monsters, even if that also means killing hundreds of people.
  • Intelligent: She could convince many people that the person of the video that showed her confessing her crimes wasn't lher actually, but Nimona disguised.
  • Short-Tempered: She growled at Ambrosius when she realized Ballister and Nimona tricked her so she'd confess her crimes and later she was clearly mad at her knights when they refused to follow her orders.
  • Is a Game Changer: The film is full of comedy, but she's the only character who's taken completely seriously and doesn't have any comedic moments.
  • Psychopathic: She didn't show any empathy for the people who would die if the cannon got fired.
  • Freudian Excuse: When she was a girl, she had nightmares with monsters and no one would help her.
