“ | Oh, wow. What a surprise. A water crime. Fuck me running. I swear to God, they only call me when there's trouble at a dock. Or a river or a lake, canal. A jetty. Fucking idiots. I could be doing so much more. But no, Vought just wants me to make my big pretty dives into the water and flash my fucking biceps for Instagram. I mean, sure, four million hits a day, but still, it's fucking demeaning. | „ |
~ The Deep to Starlight. |
Kevin Moskowitz, better known as The Deep, is a major antagonist in the 2019 Amazon TV adaptation of the comic book series The Boys. He is a perverted and misogynistic member of the Seven with aquatic superpowers who is loyal to the Homelander before he got kicked out of the team due to the way he treated women (especially Starlight).
He is portrayed by Chace Crawford.
What Makes Him a Shonen Villain?[]
- Villainous/Anti-Villainous: He raped many women (most notably Starlight) and even had sex with animals, killed one of Homelander’s fans brutally on his orders, negligently caused the death of his own lover Ambrosia, and murdered dozens of people in cold blood on a kill list.
- Powerful/Skillful: He has water themed powers that enable him to commit crimes on a high level.
- Power-Hungry: He only cares about his ego and blindly sucks up to Homelander with a lack of morals. He’s also obsessed with popularity.
- Pursues a Big-End Goal: His main goal is to keep sexually abusing Starlight.
- Arrogant: He brags about how perfect he is on a constant basis.
- Cold-Hearted/Ruthless: He is so messed up that he has sex with animals, and outside of that, he doesn’t care for as many people as his teammates who are more sympathetic than him.
- Sadistic: He gleefully blackmailed Starlight into having sexual intercourse with him and enjoyed every second of it.
- Tragic Past: He was injected with Compound V at birth against his will and grew up with parents who almost always lied to him, giving him major insecurities about the gills around his torso.
- Bloodthirsty: He beat a Homelander loyalist to death and massacred a bunch of people who were on his “to kill list”.
- Laughably Evil: Being a comic relief character, he’s seldom taken seriously (though him sexually assaulting Starlight is played as straight as possible), and his incompetence is played for laughs in the show.
- Is a Secondary-Color Nemesis: His color scheme primarily consists of green and yellow.
- Is a Dark Lord: He does everything at his disposal to make sure Black Noir II stays evil.
- Has Black Air Force Energy: He doesn’t care about rules, given he humiliated his female kindergarten teacher at a young age.
- Immature: He gets angry and pathetic when things don't go his way, especially feeling as though he is entitled to any respect or being brought back into the Seven.
