This Shonen Villain was Headlined on July 2024.

Megatron is the main antagonist of the Beast Era of the Transformers Generation One franchise, serving as the main antagonist of both Beast Wars: Transformers and Beast Machines: Transformers.

He is voiced by David Kaye.

What Makes Him a Shonen Villain?[]

  • Villainous: Megatron has consumed the sparks of billions of Transformers to become a god and has endangered the universe by attempting to make numerous time paradoxes for his benefit.
  • Powerful/Skillfull: He has numerous powerful forms and by Beast Machines, has taken over Cybertron while also being a brilliant tactician.
  • Power-Hungry: At the start of his era, he desired to rule Cyberton before seeking to replace Primus as its core by the end of beast Machines.
  • Pursues a Big-End Goal: As stated before, he wants to take over Cybertron and become its core, thus becoming a god.
  • Arrogant: Has a god complex to the point of declaring himself the beginning and the end of time.
  • Intelligent: Despite his god complex, Megatron isn't one with delusions of grandeur as he is successfully able to achieve his goals through increasingly impressive plans and gambits.
  • Cold-Hearted/Ruthless: Will sacrifice lives with little hesitation in order to achieve his goals.
  • Short-Tempered: In Beast Wars, he often abused his minions when he was agitated or annoyed.
  • Sadistic: His sadism knew no bounds. He had a sick smile on his face when tormenting Rampage to become his minion, mocked the Maximals when they were in danger of being erased from existence, and he was especially sadistic towards Optimus Primal during Beast Machines, the best example being when using Primal's old body to defeat him in the finale.
  • Fruedian Excuse: While it no longer excuses or justifies his actions given his Pure Evil status, Megatron does have a tragic past. Back in Cyberton, the Predacons including Megatron himself faced notable discrimination from the Maximals due to the fact that they were descended from the Decepticons, who lost the Great War, causing Megatron to hold a hatred for Maximals and desire power for the Predacons. Despite no longer making him truly tragic or sympathetic due to mainly being motivated by power, his background does explain why he became so power-hungry.
  • Has Incompetent Minions: In Beast Wars, he was in charge of incompetent Predacons such as Waspinatior, Terrorsaur, and Scorponok.
  • Serves as a Foil to the Hero/Protagonist: His plans of total control in Beast Machines go against Primal's desire for free will to take over.
  • Bloodthristy: He takes immense joy in razing the humans and destroying anything and anyone in his path.

Trivia[]

  • So far, he is the only Shonen Villain to be a Pure Evil-Magnificent Baddie crossover.
