Justice Lawrence John Wargrave is the main antagonist of Agatha Christie's mystery novel And Then There Were None.

He's a retired judge who invited nine people to Soldier Island to kill them for their unpunished crimes.

What Makes Him A Shonen Villain?[]

  • Villainous/Anti-Villainous: Kills 9 criminals onscreen and at least one offscreen.
  • Powerful/Skillful: As a judge.
  • Pursues a Big-End Goal: To punish any criminal he meets.
  • Intelligent: His plan was so good that both viewers/readers and other characters never exposed him as a criminal until the note in the bottle was found.
  • Cold-Hearted/Ruthless: Towards his victims.
  • Short-Tempered: While he never shows his emotions onscreen, he is definitely outraged by his victims' crimes.
  • Psychopathic: His methods definitely can be described this way.
  • Freudian Excuse: He is a well-intentional extremist, as he only kills criminals.
