“ | I am not turning down the money. I am turning down you! You get it?! I want nothing to do with you! Ever since I met you, everything I have ever cared about, is gone! Ruined, turned to shit, DEAD! Ever since I hooked up with the great Heisenberg! I have never been more alone! I have NOTHING! NO ONE! Alright, it's all gone! Get it?! No... no, no, why... why would you... get it?! Why would you even care, as long as YOU get what you want?! Right? You don't give a shit about me. You said I was no good. I'm nothing! ~ Jesse expressing his anger at Walter White. |
Jesse Bruce Pinkman is the deuteragonist of Breaking Bad, a minor character in Better Call Saul and the main protagonist of the 2019 Netflix film El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie. He is the former partner and son-figure of Walter White whose constant acts of compassion culminate in his eventual redemption. This makes him a stark contrast to most other characters in the series who start out as good people but get progressively worse over the course of the series, whereas he starts out as a bad person but becomes increasingly better over time.
He was portrayed by Aaron Paul.
What Makes Him A Shonen Villain?[]
- Villainous/Anti-Villainous: He killed Gale Boetticher under Walter's orders, helped Walt and his allies establish their drug empire, beat up Saul and threatened him into admitting that he helped poison the six year-old boy Brock, and attempted to burn down Walt's house out of spite.
- Powerful/Skillful: He is skilled at creating near-pure meth and was once a talented craftsman who made beautiful products.
- Pursues a Big-End Goal: His main goal is to cook meth with Walter White.
- Arrogant: Though not on the same level as Walt, Jesse does have a bit of pride within himself.
- Intelligent: He survived many threats, found out that Walt poisoned Brock, succeeded in the vast majority of his goals, got away with his crimes scot-free, and earned enough money to flee to Alaska and start a brand new life under a new identity.
- Short-Tempered: He sometimes has trouble keeping his anger in check, getting into fights with Walt and even spitting in his face when he gets arrested.
- Laughably Evil: Before becoming a darker and more serious character, he had a plethora of funny moments such as the gag of him saying the word "bitch" and him arguing with Walt over the toilet.
- Tragic Past: The vast majority is friends and the loves of his life have been killed due to his involvement in the drug trade, he has been severely injured numerous times throughout the show (mainly when he was beaten and hospitalized by Hank in Season 3), he is constantly subjected to emotional manipulation by Walt, and of course, he was betrayed and enslaved by Jack and the Neo-Nazis before being forced to endure 6 months of abuse and torture. All of this led to him suffering from PTSD.
- Bloodthirsty: Although he is mostly reluctant and/or hesitant to kill people, he showed no regrets when killing Todd, Neil and Casey.
- Has Black Air Force Energy: It's hard to tell when he's going to attempt to murder another person and he acts like a criminal in all of his appearances.
- Immature: Despite being an adult, he acts like your typical kid.
