~ Jack's last words before his death when Walter White shoots him in the head, thus avenging the deaths of both Walt's brother-in-law Hank Shrader and his DEA partner Steven Gomez in the process. |
Jack Welker is the main antagonist of the fifth season of Breaking Bad and the overarching antagonist of its 2019 sequel film El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie.
He is the leader of a White Supremacist gang, the uncle of Todd Alquist and the main hitman-turned-final adversary of Walter White. However, despite initially working for Walt in different tasks, such as having Gustavo Fring's men killed, he ends up betraying him by killing his brother-in-law, stealing his money and continuing his drug empire while Walt is in hiding.
He was portrayed by Michael Bowen.
What Makes Him a Shonen Villain?[]
- Villainous/Anti-Villainous: He had 10 prisoners brutally killed to stop them from testifying against Walt, killed Hank in front of Walt and enslaved Jesse against his will for 6 months, during which he had his gang torture and beat him on a daily basis to the point where he let Todd kill Andrea to punish Jesse for trying to escape his compound. Not just that, but he is the indirect killer of Walter White himself as he had to sacrifice himself by taking a gunshot to the stomach to save Jesse from the Neo-Nazis and help him escape into the world of freedom.
- Powerful/Skillful: He leads a gang of Nazis called the Aryan Brotherhood and has a gun at his disposal.
- Arrogant: He is prideful of his many murders.
- Intelligent: He was able to take Walt's drug empire away from him and stayed calm enough after being wounded by Walt to try and bribe him into sparing him by offering his stolen money moments before his death.
- Cold-Hearted/Ruthless: He lacks compassion and the only redeemable quality about him is his care for Todd and his gang.
- Psychopathic: He lacks any remorse for his crimes and is stoic most of the time.
- Sadistic: He enjoyed seeing Walt break down in tears after killing Hank in front of him.
- Has Incompetent Minions: Todd Alquist and Neil Kandy, the former of whom is a Pathetic Pinhead, work for him.
- Bloodthirsty: He'll hurt anyone who seemingly poses a threat to his image.
- Has Comedic Moments: While he is the most serious and threatening villain in the show alongside Don Eladio (even being taken more seriously than Hector and Lalo), he still has some humorous moments like telling Kenny to kill Walt anywhere but in his living room and his last moments where he smokes his final cigarette and pleads for his life when Walt is about to kill him only to die anyway.
