Hidan is a major antagonist in Naruto. He is the archenemy of Team 10 who worships Jashin.
He is voiced by Masaki Terasoma in Japanese and Chris Edgerly in English.
What Makes Him a Shonen Villain?[]
- Villainous/Anti-Villainous: Being an evil fanatical worshipper who is "loyal" to a vile deity, he massacred his own village out of spite, killed several people at the temple and killed main character Asuma.
- Powerful/Skillful: Despite being a PP, Hidan has proved to be a skilled fighter who has immortality and extreme pain tolerance.
- Power-Hungry: His only motives for worshipping Jashin are a love of death and destruction.
- Pursues a Big-End Goal: He aims to cause as much chaos as possible before anyone defeats him.
- Arrogant: His ideology is about killing people and getting away with it, which he embraces.
- Cold-Hearted/Ruthless: He lacks compassion for others and despite his status as the weakest member of the Akatsuki, he is one of the most dangerous villains in the series.
- Short-Tempered: He throws childish tantrums when he gets angry, making him a generally unappealing loser.
- Laughably Evil: Him being insane is sometimes presented in a comical light, though he's still taken fully seriously in-universe.
- Psychopathic: Aside from his respect for Ameyuki, he cares about no one.
- Sadistic: He takes pleasure in seeing/making others suffer.
- Serves as a Foil to the Hero/Protagonist: He is basically the dark counterpart of Team 10 (Chōji Akimichi, Shikamaru Nara and Ino Yamanaka) due to killing their leader Asuma Sarutobi in cold blood.
- Bloodthirsty: He kills anyone for even the pettiest reasons.
- Is a Secondary-Color Nemesis: He has a red and black color scheme.
- Has Black Air Force Energy: He is so crazy that he commits several "stupid evil" acts that make him look like an idiot, though he doesn't care about civility.
