I'm going to enslave humanity and force them to service my machines. First Green Hills, then the universe, then the multiverse, then who knows? Maybe that'll be enough. Full disclosure: You won't be there.
~ Dr. Robotnik revealing his true plans to enslave humanity and conquer the multiverse to Sonic.

Dr. Ivo Robotnik, also known by his nickname Dr. Eggman, is one of the main antagonists of the Sonic the Hedgehog movies.

He was portrayed by Jim Carrey.

What Makes Him a Shonen Villain?[]

  • Villainous/Anti-Villainous: Eggman has attempted to use the Master Emerald to take control of the universe.
  • Powerful/Skillful: In his base form, Eggman has access to many machines and had the capacity to endanger the universe with the Master Emerald.
  • Power-Hungry: He desires to take over the world and enslave humanity.
  • Pursues a Big-End Goal: Robotnik was focused on taking over the Universe and enslave all of humanity with the Master Emerald.
  • Arrogant: Is incredibly egotistical and prideful on his intelligence in general whilst considering nearly all of humanity (except himself and Agent Stone) as inferior.
  • Intelligent: Robotnik is a brilliant scientist who is rather capable of creating practical machines and plans.
  • Cold-Hearted/Ruthless: Outside of having standards against destroying the world, Robotnik is incredibly brutal in his measures as he was willing to abandon Stone and betray Knuckles.
  • Short-Tempered: Regularly gets mad at Agent Stone.
  • Laughably Evil: Is an incredibly comedic character across the trilogy in general with many comedic moments that include but are not limited to:
    • Complementing Stone's Lattes.
    • Having a Running gag of licking Sonic's Quill.
    • Flossing in the second movie.
    • Quoting the Wicked Witch of the West.
    • And his defeat in the second movie by exclaiming "Later, hater!" to Sonic when falling to his supposed doom.
  • Narcissistic: As stated before, he is incredibly egotistical and prideful to the point of seeing himself above humanity.
  • Sadistic: Took joy in the idea of dissecting Sonic and threatening Tom.
  • Tragic Past: He has a genuine tragedy of being orphaned and bullied from a young age which caused him to desire companionship deep down despite trying to deny it.
  • Immature: Eggman has many moments of acting far younger than is actual age.
