Daniel Kon is the main antagonist of the Netflix series Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous and a minor antagonist in the first season of its sequel series Chaos Theory. He is Kenji's father and the director of Mantah Corp who brainwashes dinosaurs into duelling to the death for the sake of his investors' entertainment and forms a partnership with Biosyn's CEO Lewis Dodgson.
He was voiced by Andrew Kishino.
What Makes Him a Shonen Villain?[]
- Villainous/Anti-Villainous: He neglected and psychologically abused his son Kenji throughout his life, even leaving him for dead at one point. He also brainwashes many dinosaurs with mental control chips to force them to fight each other to the death while he and his employees watch with amusement. While he does redeem himself by sacrificing himself to be eaten by dinosaurs in order to save Kenji from certain death, this only happens at the very end of his arc.
- Powerful/Skillful: As the director of Mantah Corp, he is a very charismatic and manipulative leader.
- Power-Hungry: He didn't care for his son for only one reason: maintaining his reputation.
- Pursues a Big-End Goal: His primary goal is ultimately to appease Dodgson with his technology and sell it to Biosyn.
- Arrogant: He only wants to defend the Kon family's name for his own benefit.
- Intelligent: He blackmailed Sammy Gutierrez's family into sending their daughter (Sammy herself) to Isla Nublar to steal dinsosaur samples and threatened them with taking their ranch away from them, which ultimately causes the events of the series.
- Cold-Hearted/Ruthless: He had no problem with abandoning his own son to die.
- Narcissistic: Due to his goal to maintain his good image, he has an overinflated ego and boasts about his company's technology.
- Sadistic: He takes pleasure in forcing dinosaurs to fight to the death.
- Serves as a Foil to the Hero/Protagonist: He just so happens to be the evil counterpart of his own son Kenji, who is kind and loyal in contrast to Daniel who is greedy and selfish.
- Is a Game Changer: Whenever he appears, any comedy in the show is thrown out the window with everyone taking him deathly seriously as a major threat.
- Is a Dark Lord: He is partly to blame for Kenji briefly becoming a villain due to constantly abusing him and eventually manipulating him into thinking he's a good guy, which led to Kenji betraying the heroes and taking on a villainous role in the fifth season.
- Has Black Air Force Energy: He brainwashes dinosaurs into deadly battles with no hesitation or restraint and gladly abuses his son until his redemption in Chaos Theory.
