Little Jack Horner didn't have any magic. He was a pathetic, buttered baker's boy. Little Jack's dead. I'm BIG Jack Horner!
~ Big Jack Horner explaining his story to the Serpent Sisters after one of them calls him "Little Jack".
Ethical Bug: Sweet mother of goose, Jack!
Jack: Well, you know what they say: Can't bake a pie without losing a dozen men. [laughs]
Ethical Bug: Oh. Oh! That was horrible. Your wish is horrible! YOU'RE horrible! You're an irredeemable monster!
Jack: Wha-wha-what took you so long, idiot?
~ Jack's infamous moment when he shatters Ethical Bug's idealism upon causing the deaths of nearly all his surviving men.
Oh ho ho, what a good boy am I...
~ Big Jack Horner finding the Wishing Star and quoting his nursery rhyme.

Big Jack Horner is the main antagonist of DreamWorks' 43rd animated full-length feature film Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, a spin-off to the Shrek fanchise.

He is the leader of the Baker's Dozen who seeks to wish all magic out of the world with the power of the Wishing Star.

He was voiced by John Mulaney.

What Makes Him a Shonen Villain?[]

  • Villainous/Anti-Villainous: He gets his own men killed in increasingly brutal ways, threatened to shoot Perrito in the head with his crossbow and knowingly risked the destruction of the world by using the Wishing Star to absorb all magic.
  • Powerful/Skillful: He is proficient in terms of crossbow usage, has access to magical artifacts and weapons and he was backed up by an army of men for most of the film until they all die one by one.
  • Power-Hungry: He'll do anything to get his hands on the Wishing Star and obtain all the magic in the world, no matter how many lives would be endangered because of his actions.
  • Pursues a Big-End Goal: His main goal is to reach the Wishing Star and control all magic in existence.
  • Arrogant: He takes pride in being an "irredeemable monster".
  • Cold-Hearted/Ruthless: He shows no care for his men given he lets them die in cruel ways or even directly kills them himself.
  • Short-Tempered: After pretending to find Perrito cute when he distracts him, he immediately loses his cool after where he berates the dog for thinking that appearing to be cute would work on someone as heartless as himself.
  • Laughably Evil: He is a delightfully comedic figure who has lots of funny moments like shooting one of his minions and causing them to explode into confetti while upbeat music plays and him using his men to make a human bridge as a reference to a Looney Tunes gag.
  • Psychopathic: He prefers wrong over right and cares about no one but himself.
  • Narcissistic: He boasts that he is "big" Jack Horner when he introduces himself to the Serpent Sisters.
  • Has a Sinister Laugh: He gleefully chuckles even when called out by the Ethical Bug on how terrible of a person he is.
  • Sadistic: He revels in hurting people, even if they work for him.
  • Has Incompetent Minions: Not sure about this, but given Jack himself states that he can find the wish even when all his men are dead, it's possible that the Baker's Dozen aren't the most ideal minions to have.
  • Bloodthirsty: He has no qualms about killing his men no matter how brutal his murder methods are.
  • Is a Game Changer: While he is very comedic, he is established as an undoubtedly nasty evildoer who terrifies nearly everyone in the movie except for Kitty who is snarky to pretty much anyone she meets.
  • Is a Secondary-Color Nemesis: His outfit is mainly purple.
  • Has Black Air Force Energy: He is an absolute psycho who brushes off rules like they're nothing and does whatever he wants, which causes his own downfall and defeat since him taking such drastic measures during his goal to retrieve the Wishing Star ultimately led to him failing.
