Hello, Dexter Morgan.
~ Arthur's most famous quote.
It's already over.
~ Arthur whenever he kills someone.

Arthur Mitchell, better known as the Trinity Killer, is the main antagonist of the Dexter television franchise.

He is the patriarch of his family who is Dexter's biggest enemy due to having a kill count that surpasses even Dexter's. He is also known for killing anyone who reminds him of his family.

He was portrayed by John Lithgow.

What Makes Him a Shonen Villain?[]

  • Villainous/Anti-Villainous: He went on a killing spree for several decades which saw the deaths of countless people who reminded him of his family members, abused his family, tried to murder his son and killed Rita in front of her baby son Harrison.
  • Powerful/Skillful: Despite being an elderly man, he killed nearly 300 people, giving him the highest kill count on the show.
  • Pursues a Big-End Goal: His main goal is to repeat the cycles of his family's deaths by killing many innocent folks.
  • Intelligent: He hides his depravity beneath the mask of a good member of society by posing as a community hero, school teacher and church deacon and pretending to get on with his family.
  • Cold-Hearted/Ruthless: He will kill without a second thought as long as his victims resemble his family.
  • Short-Tempered: He has multiple moments where he loses it and makes a scene, especially when he doesn't get his way.
  • Narcissistic: He admires himself for being Dexter's most serious foe.
  • Sadistic: He finds joy in killing and hurting others.
  • Tragic Past: He was originally an innocent child until his sister died and his mother committed suicide, which tore his family apart and caused him to live with his father who abused him with no one there to help him.
  • Serves as a Foil to the Hero/Protagonist: He is the evil counterpart of Dexter, as while both men have redeeming qualities, Dexter is shown to be morally better than Arthur.
  • Bloodthirsty: Holding the record for the villain with the most murders in the show, he doesn't have any standards for who he kills.
  • Is a Dark Lord: After his death, Jonah became a killer as a result of the trauma Arthur had inflicted upon him, even killing his mother as a result.
  • Has Black Air Force Energy: He lacks concern for the rules and gets on with his murder spree without a care in the world.
