We can win a war against the humans. Not only because we have the support of Hazel's master, but because the Faunus are the dominant species of this planet. We're better than humans. We have everything humans have and more. Humans shouldn’t just fear the Faunus, they should serve the Faunus.
~ Adam expressing his goals to Sienna Khan.
People hurt me long before we met... All sorts of people in all sorts of ways... but no one hurt me quite like you...You didn't leave scars, you just left me alone. So... tell me, Blake... how does it feel to be alone?
~ Adam revealing to Blake the reason for his need to exact vengeance against her.

Adam Taurus is a major antagonist in the ongoing American anime-influenced webseries RWBY. He is the leader of the White Fang who is the one responsible for it going from a peaceful organization to a terrorist cult after he murdered and usurped the original leader, Sienna Khan, for disagreeing with his plans to subjugate humanity and got revenge on the planet for mistreating him. He is the arch-nemesis of Blake Belladonna and Yang Xiao Long and is also their ex-boyfriend and love rival respectively.

He was voiced by Garrett Hunter in English but Yuichi Nakamura in Japanese.

What Makes Him a Shonen Villain?[]

  • Villainous: He is one of the most heinous villains in the series, with several of his crimes including killing several students and staff members during the Fall of Beacon, slicing off Yang's arm and traumatizing her because of it, attempting to blow himself up in a suicide attack to destroy Haven Academy while knowingly endangering Blake and several other Faunus in the process, and murdering Sienna Khan for going against his plans.
  • Powerful/Skillful: He is a master fighter and planner who has control over an entire faction, supplying him with an army of followers.
  • Power-Hungry: He is willing to take down anyone who opposes his ideals and destroy everything Blake loves as revenge for leaving him.
  • Pursues a Big-End Goal: His main goals are to prove his superiority over the human race and kill Blake and her family.
  • Arrogant: He believes very strongly that the Faunus are the dominant species of Remnant and can win a war against the humans, and he clearly thinks that equality doesn't exist.
  • Intelligent: He managed to order the assassination of the Belladonna family as a mere hologram, helped Ilia and Sienna rob a Schnee Dust Company train and pulled off an excellent raid on a cargo train in the "Black" Trailer. Plus, he uses a mix of competence and fear to rule over the White Fang after conquering the organization and executing the former leader Sienna.
  • Cold-Hearted/Ruthless: He is an unsympathetic and embittered man who has no problems with harming anyone, even his fellow Faunus. He even slaughters his followers for questioning the measures he takes.
  • Short-Tempered: He has a fiery temper that he constantly loses, especially when he loses control of a situation.
  • Psychopathic: He hates everyone equally and doesn't care for anyone. Even when he was Blake's romantic partner and mentor, he only manipulated her into staying on his side without harboring any affection for her.
  • Narcissistic: He is highly egotistical, claiming that everyone shouldn't just fear his species but should also serve the Faunus race.
  • Sadistic: He takes pleasure in tormenting Blake and calling her cruel names.
  • Tragic Past: When he was a child, he was enslaved by Jacques Schnee and got forced to work as an unwilling miner for the Schnee Dust Company. After having a fight with one of his peers, his right eye was brutally scarred, which led to his hatred of humanity. It's also shown in his character short that he was horrified upon realising that he killed a human being to protect Ghira until he subverted that redeeming quality.
  • Serves as a Foil to the Hero/Protagonist: He is a dark counterpart of Blake as while the latter wants peace and equality among humans and Faunus alike, Adam hates humanity and puts them below Faunus.
  • Bloodthirsty: He adores being violent and has killed numerous people because of this.
  • Has Black Air Force Energy: He never follows the rules and even when Blake and Yang give him chances to abandon his past, he refuses to leave them alone and nearly kills them during their legendary battle in Volume 6 before he is killed off and concedes defeat.
